# Internal Calendar | Understanding the Colors on Events

## How to understand the colors of events on the internal calendar

When you view the events on the internal Daily, Weekly, Two Weeks, or Monthly view in your eSPACE the events may be in different colors depending on their approval status. 

- Admins can also choose to show or not show several pieces of information on the internal calendar views such as event requests, location codes (abbreviations), national holidays and more. These settings are found under Settings \> Advanced \> General \> Display Features. Related article: Display Features | Customizable Options For Internal Calendar
- **Event in Draft State:** All users can choose to see events still in draft state when they click on Filter Calendar and then select Drafts as one of the status to filter events by. They can choose to filter events by Draft, Approved, Conflicted etc.

- **Event with approved status**

### **Green Events with "Awaiting Final Approval"**

- **When the account has Final Approval enabled and the event is still pending *final* approval**

- **Event that is marked as offsite on the Details tab**

### **Green Event with "Virtual" tag**

- **An event that is marked as virtual on the Details tab**

### **Yellow Event with "Pending Pre-Approval"**

- **When the account has Pre-Approval enabled and the event is still pending *pre*-approval**

### **Yellow Event**

- **Event that is still pending approval from sub-admins (Requires Sub-admin Approval) and admins (Requires Administrative Approval)**

### **Red Event**

- **Event that is in conflict with another event that is reserving the same spaces, resources, and/or services for the same day and time, *but not yet approved***

### **Green Event with Red Text**

- **Event that *has been approved* w/conflicts**

### **Gray Event**

- **An event that is in draft mode and needs to be submitted for aproval.**
- All users can choose to see events still in draft state when they click on Filter Calendar and then select Drafts as one of the status to filter events by. They can choose to filter events by Draft, Approved, Conflicted etc.

### **Blue Event**

- **Events submitted from an Event Request Form that are not yet approved/submitted for approval**
- This type of event will show if selected within Settings \> Advanced \> General \>Display Features
- Once the manager of the event request form submits the request, it will go through normal workflow and show on the calendar highlighted based on status.

### **White Events that are Crossed out With Canceled tag**

- **A whole event OR occurrence on an event has been canceled**
- This type of event will only show if selected within Settings \> Advanced \> General \>Display Features

### **Event *Category* Colors - Available on Two Week, Monthly, & Condense Views**

For the Two Week, Monthly, and Condensed Views, you (each user in their eSPACE account) can choose to switch the colors on the event from representing their approval status to representing their event category type.

These three views will at first default to using event statuses.

If you click on Category, then the event colors will change to the event category colors. The color of the text will be dark on event categories that have lighter colors and be white on those with darker colors. Content accessibility standards for text color are governed by the [Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)](https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG21/Understanding/use-of-color.html). They require a minimum contrast ratio between text and its background to ensure readability for users with visual impairments.

- In order to avoid confusion, it is recommended to use custom event category colors that are different than the traditional event status colors, read more below.

However, if you have events with *no* event categories selected on them, then the colors of those events on these three calendar views will be the color of their event status.

- For example, this Grace Day Care event has no event category chosen and it's approved, so it is the classic light green color, the color of it's event status.

Each admin will get to choose which color they want for each event category in their account. This way each user can color code the events on their calendar views (Two Week, Monthly, and Condense) to best fit their needs.

However, each user, sub-admin and admin can choose to either have their Two Week, Monthly, and Condense calendar set to the event status color view or the event category color view. Once selected, those three calendar views will always default to the color view that is chosen.
